Mangaluru, Dec 28, 2017: Thieves who broke into a house at Kalpane in Kulshekhar on December 26, Tuesday have decamped with valuables worth Rs 7.8 lakhs and a cash of Rs 30,000.
The theft occurred in the house of Philomena D’Silva when she was away to a relative’s house for a wedding. The theft came to light when Philomena who left the house at 3.30 pm arrived at 12 midnight. The thieves had entered the house by breaking open the front doors and had escaped with the booty from the almirah by breaking it open.
The thieves also broke into the locked houses of Joy Pereira and G M Fernandes in the area but could not find anything. The theft attempts came to light when Lucy Lobo and S Noronha who look after the two houses respectively arrived on Wednesday morning. If Joy family stayed in north India, Fernandes family stays in Mumbai.
Kankanady Police are investigating the case.
