Bantwal, July 8, 2013 : Passengers travelling in a private bus to Mangalore from Vittal, are thanking the trees for saving their lives. They have every reason for the same as it were the trees of a nearby plantation that supported the bus which dangerously leaned to the right near Kadumutt in Kolnad village on July 7, Sunday.

The mishap took place when the driver of the bus which was passing through Kadumutt, suddenly took the bus towards the right side of the road in order to avert a collision with a Mahindra Bolero vehicle which was coming from the opposite direction. However, in the process, its tyres got stuck in the potholes of the road and it leaned to the right and was supported by the trees of a nearby plantation. If not the trees, the bus would have rolled down resulting in casualties.

The traffic on Vittal-Salettur road was disrupted for some time after the mishap. The Vittal police who rushed to the spot, ensured measures to regulate traffic.
