Theft in govt official’s house ; valuables worth Rs 2.2 lakhs looted

Mangalore, July 11, 2014:  Thieves who broke into a government residential quarters at Hat Hill in the city  have decamped with valuables worth nearly Rs 2.20 lakhs. The theft came to light on July 10, Thursday.

The burglary is learnt to have taken place when TJ Takat Rao, Planning Director of Urban Development Body to whom the house belongs, had left for his native place along with family members on July 5.

The thieves had broken open the front door to loot the valuables. Urva police have registered a case.
