Mangaluru, May 01, 2018: The Annual “Community Celebration of Weddings” was held on Tuesday, 01-05-2018 at the Rosario Cathedral, Mangaluru, under the auspices of the society of St. Vincent de Paul, Rosario Cathedral.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Objectives of the “Community Celebration of Weddings” is to help young men and women from lesser privileged economic background, to marry with dignity and solemnity at minimal cost. Most Rev. Dr. Henry D’ Souza, the Bishop of Bellary, was the main celebrant for the nuptial ceremony. Around 15 priests concelebrated the nuptial mass and solemnized the marriage.

This is the 44th year of celebration of community weddings and so far over a thousand couples have joined in holy matrimony. This year 13 couples from the various parts of the Diocese of Mangalore and other parts of Karnataka tied the knot. Around 2000 guests participated in the celebration.

Apart from the wedding ceremony and the dinner, this year the organizers presented each couple a pair of gold nuptial rings along with dress material and household articles.

At the reception on the Rosario High School Grounds Mr. Albert W D’Souza, Chairman Model Co-operative Bank Mumbai, was the Chief Guest and the Vice President of the SSVP Central Council was the Guest of Honor. Rev Fr J B Crasta welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. Raising the Toast the Chief Guest advised the couples to be faithful and be patient to each other. He also asked them to take care of their parents and not to neglect them. On behalf of all the couples Joseph and Wilma D’Souza, replied to the Toast Mr. Jokim Monteiro Handed over the bride and Mrs. Irene Martis received the bride. Mrs Mary Pinto gave the vote of thanks The Society of St. Vincent De Paul, of Rosario Cathedral, has been venturing this mega project every year with the help of philanthropists and kind hearted donors from all around.
