Mangaluru, Oct 20, 2023: The Karnataka High Court has issued a stay to the proceedings against Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Sharan Pumpwell who was booked by the police on the charges of disrupting peace and promoting hatred with regard to the issue of putting up stalls during the Navaratri festival at Mangaladevi Temple.

Sharan Pumpwell

On October 16, Sharan and his supporters had put up saffron flags atop stalls of Hindu people and had also given a call to Hindus to make purchases from stalls set up by Hindus only. Several like-minded organisations had complained against this with District in-charge Minister Dinesh Gundurao.

Later, the Pandeshwar police had registered a suo moto case against Sharan and others. Sharan had moved the High Court against this and the court has now issued a stay. Advocate Arun Shyam had argued for the petitioner in the High Court.
