Mangaluru, Dec 25, 2014: The problems faced in the implementation of housing schemes including Basava housing scheme and Rajeev Gandhi housing scheme came up for discussions at the district level meet of review committee of banking business held here on December 24, Wednesday.
Addressing the meeting, ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni while pointing out at the technical problems faced in the implementation of the housing schemes said the income critera has also come in the way of the BPL families in availing bank loans.
The meeting also strongly felt there was a need for relaxation of banking rules if the schemes have to be effective.
Amarnath Hegde, Lead Bank Chief Manager informed that a credit of Rs 4,134,86 crores has been disbursed by the banks in the district while the annual target is Rs 7,782,00 crores. He also stressed the need to motivate SHGs to operate bank accounts and added nearly 432 SHGs have been linked to bank accounts. He also gave details of progress under various schemes.
