Teacher shot dead by 60 year old jilted lover

Madikeri, June 14, 2019: In a shocking incident, a high school lady teacher was shot dead while she was waiting for the school vehicle at Balele in Virajpete taluk close to the local police outpost on June 14, Friday morning. The assailant too  killed himself later on.

 

The deceased is Asha Kaveramma  (50) while the assailant is Jagadish (60).

The incident occurred at around 8.15 am.  The accused was from Ponnampet.After shooting dead Asha, he shot himself at a nearby coffee plantation. Two persons including a student named Dinesh  and a plantation worker  Raju who tried to save Asha were also injured and have been hospitalised.

It has been gathered that the accused  had been harassing Asha who was a teacher at the Lions High School at Gonikoppal. The teacher had even filed a rape attempt case against Jagadish two years ago following which he was jailed and subsequently released on bail.   It is said he had begun stalking her after his release.
