TKJ Associates representative loses jewelry worth Rs. 1 crore in train

Mangalore, Nov 2, 2011 : A representative of TKJ Associates, a jewelry company based in Trissur, lost a bag containing gold worth Rs. 1 crore at the local railway station.

gold1 TKJ Associations has been trading in gold ornaments for a long time and is widely acclaimed among jewelers in the twin districts of DK and Udupi. Jijo Lazar, the company representative, visited some jewelers in Mangalore, Udupi, and Puttur before heading over the Central Railway Station in Mangalore to catch the train to Trissur on Oct 21. Mr. Lazar had with a bag containing jewelry and gold worth Rs. 1 crore. Reportedly, his bag contained 2,856gms of new gold ornaments and 905gms of gold.

He boarded the West Coast Express, which left the station at 9:30 p.m. Since he had not reserved a seat, he entered the general compartment and asked fellow passengers to keep an eye on his bag while he visited the toilet. When he returned, a passenger told him that someone had taken his bag away. Mr. Lazar reached Trissur in a shocked state of mind.

Netto T. G., another representative of TKJ Associates, lodged a complaint at the railway station. Since Mr. Lazar was in shock and mentally disoriented, a complaint could not be lodged immediately.

The railway police have registered a case and are currently investigating the matter.
