Mangaluru, Jan 14, 2020 : The life and achievements of Swami Vivekananda who enlightened the world about the greatness of India and its culture, are an inspiration for crores of youth, said MLA Vedavyas Kamath.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 157th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and a District Youth Convention organised at Town Hall on January 14, Tuesday under the aegis of the Department of Youth and Sports, Nehru Yuva Kendra, NSS unit of Mangalore University, Bharath Scouts and Guides and District Yuvajana Okkoota.
On this occasion the Kanakamajalu Sullia Yuva Mandali was conferred the district level best Yuva Mandala award for the year 2018-19 for its excellence in the social, cultural and sports fields. Various sports equipment were also distributed to youth organisations.
Retired NSS Officer Vinitha Rai, Pakshikere Nitin Vas of Paper Seed Company that makes pens and books from waste paper, Aditya who participated in Republic Day Parade were honoured.
Prizes were awarded to winners of the elocution contest conducted by Nehru Yuva Kendra,
Dr N G Mohan, Chief Commissioner of District Scouts and Guides, District AYUSH officer Muhammad Iqbal, District Yuvajana Okkoota President Suresh Rai, Alva’s Education Trustee Vivek Alva, Raghuveer Souterpete of Mangaluru unit of Nehru Yuva Kendra and others were present.
