Mangaluru, July 29, 2018: DK Zilla Panchayat president Meenakshi Shanthigodu on July 28, Saturday flagged off the Swachh Survekshan Grameen-2018 programme.

The ZP President said that teams of a survey agency empanelled by the Central government would visit villages, and urged people to extend cooperation. The teams would evaluate cleanliness in villages as per pre-determined yardsticks and grade the district. Prez Shanthigodu requested all those concerned, including residents, to keep all public places, including schools, anganwadi centres, shandies, water supply areas, panchayat offices, health centres, village roads and public toilets, clean not only during the survey, but at all times. Thus, the district can be ranked No. 1 in the State, she added.  ZP members and officials were present.

The teams from the authorised survey agency from the government will visit 6980 villages in 698 districts and will interview 50 lakh villages. A total of 34,900 public places will be covered under the survey. The idea behind the survey is to gather the perspective of the community on cleanliness, their recommendations and the progress achieved by the districts. Rankings will be given to the districts and the states according to the marks scored under various related topics. The survey would be conducted from August 1 to 30.

The public is requested to keep public places, schools, anganwadis, markets, drinking water storage tanks, panchayat offices, primary health centres, religious places and toilets clean. A request was made to concerned people to cooperate with the administration and help the district and state achieve high rankings.
