Udupi, Feb 16, 2015: A woman who was allegedly trying to rob valuables at a marriage ceremony at the Halima Sabju Hall at Udyavar was caught hold of by people around and handed over to the police on February 15, Sunday.
The accused is Roja who hails from Salem in Tamil Nadu. The woman who was clad in a burqa was found moving suspiciously at the marriage hall. When people around saw her and chased her she ran out of the hall and in the process threw a purse which she had.
She was later trapped and handed over to the police. It is learnt, during interrogation, the woman told the police that she attended weddings uninvited merely to have lunch and had no intention of stealing. But it is not yet known whether the purse she threw belonged to her or was stolen by her.
Investigations are underway.
