Mangaluru, May 19, 2019: Surfing Swami Foundation with the support of Mantra Surf Club, Adventure Worx, Thunder Monkey, Firewire Surfboards will host the second annual ‘Mantra Grom Search’ on Panambur beach, today, May 19, Sunday.
The objective behind the event is to identify and nurture talented young surfers under the aegis of Surfing Swami Foundation.
Participating in the events will expose the young adults to competitive surfing and help them update their knowledge on surfing. Further, it will open up many opportunities for them to participate in national events and represent India in international events.
Compared to the last year’s event, which had been a great success, this year, there are more participants. The children’s skills had improved significantly. Some children like Selva, Praveen and Subbu, who had won the event last year, went on to participate in the national-level event at the Covelong Point Surf Festival in Tamil Nadu and performed well in the event.
The Surfing Swami Foundation is striving to introduce surfing and other water sports to children and improve the surfing scene in India.
“We have more than 25 children aged between 7 and 15 years coming in from different surf clubs in Mulki, Panambur, Bengre and Tannirbhavi,” said a press release from Yathish Baikampady of Panambur Beach Development Project.
