Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, May 24, 2020: Streets in Mangaluru wear a deserted look as the state observes total lockdown today. People who were made aware of the weekend curfew largely remained indoors. The state government has decided to impose a total lockdown on two Sundays to contain the spread of COVID19 on today and May 31st.

Most of the roads were clear and only the vehicles transporting essentials were seen moving around. The curfew began at 7 pm on Saturday and will end at 7 am on Monday. City’s Mosques wear desearted look inspite of being Eid day.

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated today, but mosques remain closed for devotees due to coronavirus lockdown.

Karnataka saw another record spike of 216 Covid-positive cases for a single day on Saturday. Of them, 185 are returnees from Maharashtra, and with this, the tally stands at 1,959 cases. The state also recorded two deaths, one from Bengaluru and another non-Covid-related demise in Dakshina Kannada.
