Sullia, Dec 08, 2016: As per reports a group of four wild elephants that have been trying to enter the human inhabitation and have destroyed crops have become a cause of worry for the residents of Sullia and nearby areas here since the last few days.

The elephants who have camped on the banks of Payaswini river have reportedly destroyed coconut, areca and banana plantations in Alletty and Ajjavara village limits. Another cause of worry remains that the elephants are trying to enter into Sullia town municipal limits by crossing the river.

Forest department personnel and villagers have resorted to beating drums, bursting crackers and other measures in an effort to drive the elephants back into the forest area.
