Mangaluru, Sep 26, 2015: A suggestion box aimed at facilitating the people of Mangaluru to drop in their suggestions pertaining to the Smart City Project, was inaugurated at the MCC office on September 26, Saturday by Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred.
Speaking to reporters later MLC Ivan D’Souza said the city would strive hard to make it to the top 20 cities list so that it could be a Smart City as envisioned by its residents. Stating that the MCC will leave no stone unturned in eliciting public opinion as well as suggestions, he requested people to come forward to put in their suggestions in writing and drop it in the suggestion box.
He said the suggestions thus collected will be submitted to the authorities by December 10. He said discussions on Smart City project will be held on October 16.
Ivan also requested all elected representatives to sink differences and work towards making Mangaluru a Smart City. Touching upon the power crisis, he stressed the need for people to go in for solar power systems. He also was hopeful that Mangaluru would have an international cricket stadium. Talks are underway in this regard, he added.
When questioned about Yettinahole Project, Ivan said in case the DPR was found wrong, then people responsible for it would be answerable.
Jacintha Vijay Alfred, Mayor, Purushottam, Deputy Mayor and others were present on the occasion.
