Mangaluru, May 29, 2015 : A man from Uttar Pradesh who worked as a sub-contractor for the Bharati Shipyard reportedly ended his life by hanging himself at his room at Tannirbavi.
The deceased has been identified as Vijayanarayan Vishwakarma (30). It has been gathered that non-payment of nearly Rs 10 lakh due to him by the company forced him to take the extreme step.
Sources said the company had not responded to his several pleas to clear his arrears.
Vishwakarma has also left a death note in which he had stated that he had borrowed money from many to execute the works and now the failure of the company to clear his arrears made it difficult for him to return to his hometown without clearing the same.
Vishwakarma is also learnt to have sent as SMS to the company manager stating to return the amount owed to him to his father who could in turn make payment to the people from whom he had borrowed.
Panambur police have now registered a case against Valerian Sequeira of Bharathi Shipyard.
The funeral of Vishwakarma was held with help from the cops as his family was at a loss unable to arrange funds for the same.
