Students should create history and not just be readers of history: MLC Ravikumar

Mangaluru, Sept 8, 2019: Inaugurating the Students’ Union 2019-20 of University College in Mangaluru, N. Ravikumar, MLC, on Saturday said students should create history and not just be readers of history.

The MLC said the present society needs quality education, which is lacking. While it is the duty of institutions to offer quality education, leadership in academic environment too is important for every institution to thrive. Quality education always guides and forms a quality society, he said.

Mangalore University Vice Chancellor P. Subramanya Yadapadittaya said, “The role of Students’ Union is essential for creating a good institution. Capacity building, willingness and opportunity should be our core. Students should create their own destiny. True LUCK (Labour Under Correct Knowledge) is the only way, not the shortcut.”

College Principal M.A. Uday Kumar shared his memory as student leader and said a good leader should have the patience to listen. Only then he can have morality to tell. “Let us focus on learning rather than reading. The lesson learned through experience is a lesson for life,” he added. Mr. Kumar administered oath to Student Union president B. Sampath, Secretary M.B. Mayur, Joint Secretary Varsitha Shetty and office-bearers.

The cultural programme held on the day attracted the attention of the viewers. From mimicry to drama, from folk to western music, everything explored the student talents. The jugalbandi of song and speed painting by Srinivasa Prasad and Abhishek Anchan received standing ovation.
