Mangaluru, Nov 23, 2019: There should a law that enables medical test of students to detect drug abuse during admission to schools and colleges in order to check the increasing substance abuse among students, the All College Students Union has demanded.
Addressing press persons here on November 23, Saturday, Dinaker Shetty, Legal Advisor of the Union said the drugs racket targeting students has become rampant with more students falling prey to drug abuse. Therefore there is a need for a system of a mandatory medical examination during admission, he added.
The Union has launched a campaign for drugs free campus, he said adding awareness workshops will be held at all colleges. He also demanded invoking goonda act on the drug peddlers.
Tushar Kadri, President of the Union, Bhavish Shetty, Vikas Bangera and others were present.
