Students get ’Dist-level Hoysala and Keladi Chennamma awards’

Mangaluru, Apr 27, 2017: Four children were conferred DK district-level Hoysala and Keladi Chennamma awards for 2016-17, during the zilla panchayat meeting on April 26, Wednesday. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and citation.

The students are Gauravdev H B, Flarvisha Velisha Monteiro, Panchami Marooru and Divith U Rai, said Women and Child Development deputy director Sundar Poojary.

Gauravdev is a ninth standard student of Government PU College, Bokkapattana. He has won several awards in state, district, and taluk-level drawing competitions. Flarvisha Velisha Monteiro is a 10th standard student at Milagres School. She has bagged awards in sports in state and district-level competitions. Panchami Marooru has been selected for the award in the social service category. She is a ninth standard student of Moodbidri Jain School and has been actively taking part in the NCC, Jain Milan and local organisations by involving herself in Vanamahotsav, cleanliness drive and shramadaan.

Divith U Rai of Government Model Upgraded Higher Primary School in Puttur, came to light when he spoke to Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar highlighting the problems faced by the school with the transfer of teachers. The incident in turn helped in solving the transfer of teachers from the school.
