Mangalore, Jul 10, 2014:  Water gushed into classrooms at Mahesh PU College, Kottara Chowki here on Thursday July 10 after a large overheard tank burst.

Campus incharge Deepak at Mahesh PU College, Kottara Chowki said flowed into main areas and lecture rooms when a large 25K lit OH syntex waterstorage tank disintegrated July 10, he stated that the tank water tank was hardly a year old. Normally such tanks have a life of 18 - 20 years.

Water cascaded from the tank flooding the lecture halls preventing students from entering the college. Most students did not realise the facts and posted all sorts of speculations on FB. The cleaning staff had a tough time to bring matters under control. However, the damage needs to be assessed technically and electrical faults ruled out.

It has been stated the College management has  declared three-days holidays, until the entire building is checked and the safety and security norms evaluated and sanitised for occupation.
