Street Cricket results in clash,injuries,damages

Mangalore May 19, 2014: Two groups of youth playing cricket in Premanagara ground, Kulai today clashed for minor reasons. It was explained that the batsman hit the ball towards the boundary during a match, there was a difference of openion as whether the ball touched the boundary or not, there were arguments which soon developed into clashes and combat.

Soon by standers too joined in the clash and the episode was gaining into a full fledged communal coloured clash. Before long a few people were injured and two of them named as Prajwal and Somu were admitted to a nearby hospital and it is said others were taken to Mangalore hospitals.

Angry youth took advantage of the melee and damaged two motor bikes,an auto rickshaw and a Maruti Omni. It was stated that cases have been booked by Suratkal and Panambur Police. The situation was tense and Police Commissioner visited the spot and instituted investigations. Security has been beefed up in and around the area.
