State government to end longstanding kerosene problem of Fishermen:U T Khader

Mangaluru Oct 20, 2016: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies UT Khader showed his concern towards fisherman who owns kerosene boat and decided to divert the states shares of kerosene for the fisherman of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttar Kannada District.

Addressing media at Taluk Panchayat  Office today October 20, Thursday he said that due to a longstanding problem of kerosene fisherman have to halt their occupation. Total of 914 permits have enlisted with provision of 300 liters of kerosene each. Delegations will be carried out along with local MP and MLA’s to hold discussion regard to the diversion of the kerosene to bring an end to the problem of Fisherman.

The department is planning to distribute rice at Rs 15 per kg for the APL card holders. Proposal has been submitted to Chief Minister Siddaramaih to distribute 10 kg rice at Rs 15 per kg and decision awaited. Now the quantum of rice will be increased and will lose their share of wheat, said Khader.


Regard to fake coupons Khader said that, the department is contemplating on taking over private franchises entrusted with the task of issuing the coupons. PDS system was introduced who avoid loopholes but so far nearly 1.60 lakh fake coupons have been distributed. Stringent action will be taken against such franchisee holders.

Khader said that, the new system will be launched and IT department will instigate in developing login to ensure foolproof mechanism after system is launched for the distribution of new ration cards.
