Mangaluru, Dec 10, 2018: St Aloysius College (Autonomous) has organised "CycloWalkathon" for Pollution Free Mangaluru on 9th December 2018 at 6:30 am in association with Mangalore Bicycle Club, Sahyadri Sanchaya, D.K. Bus Operators Assocation and Mangalore Forest Range. Prof. Rohan Fernandes, Associate Professor of English, Srinivas University College of Engineering and Technology, Mangaluru was the Chief Guest. Rev. Fr Dionysius Vaz, SJ, Rector, St Aloysius Institutions, presided over the programme.

Hundreds of student participated in the ‘cyclo-walkathon’ organised by St Aloysius College (Autonomous) in association with Mangalore Bicycle Club, Sahyadri Sanchayana, Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators Association and Forest Range, Mangaluru region on Sunday, 9th December 2018.

Flagging off the event, Prof Rohan Fernandes, associate professor of English, Srinivas College of Engineering and Technology said, “It is a very good initiative taken by the college management and students for raising awareness on ‘Go green’. I liked the slogan ’Pollution-free Mangaluru’ which is apt for current situation. By this event, we can give a good message to the public. It is nice to see the younger generation coming forward with the responsibility of saving nature."

Fr Dionysius Vaz, rector, St Aloysius College said, “St Aloysius College has already got nationwide appreciation for its green campaign. Today, with the association of other organisations, we are conducting this event. We are trying to give a message to the public about protecting nature. I congratulate the students who have gathered here for a good cause. If our younger generation comes forward with the intention of saving nature, it will be more effective.”

Sridhar, forest officer, Mangaluru, Joe Gonsalves, chief traffic warden, Mary Pereira, traffic warden, A M Narahari, registrar, SAC, Claret Periera, convenor, and others were present.

The ‘Cyclo-walkathon’ passed through St Aloysius College, Bunts Hostel, PVS Circle, Ballalbagh, Mannagudda, Ladyhill, Urwa Store and other parts of the city.
