Mangaluru, Dec 02, 2023: Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel asked the Railway Officials of all three divisions of this region to speed up Railway infrastructure development works and augment railway operations.

He also heard the grievances of railway passengers association, stakeholders in front of senior officials of Railways in bimonthly meeting held today at Nethravathy Hall, DK Zilla Panchayath, Mangalore.

Officials of Palakkad division of Southern Railway, Mysore division of South Western Railway and Konkan Railway were present. The officials of Mangalore Smart City, Mangalore City Corporation, Public Works Department, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) were also attended the meeting.

Introducing more train services towards districts of Karnataka , rescheduling Mangalore Central- Kabaka Puttur passenger trains, extending passenger trains up to Subramanya Road, Reopening of some of defunct railway stations, Solving the problem of commuter time, construction of Robs and RUBs, development of various railway stations of the region tops the agenda.

Railway officials assured to solve the commuter time of 16585/16586 SMVT Bengaluru - Murdeshwar Express via Mysore-Mangalore Central (MAQ) which was taking longer time both between 16585/SMVT Bengaluru –Mangalore And Mangalore Central to Murdeshwar.

All the working stations in the Mysore division of South Westren Railway between Mangalore Junction (MAJN) and Subramanya Road under development or going to be develped soon.

Commissioning of much hyped Vande Bharath train between Mangalore and Bangalore will be delayed due to electrification works between Sakleshpur and Subramnya Road stations. Konkan Railway official informed that extension of proposed Mumbai- Madagaon Vande Bharth Express up to Mangalore Central Station requires two rakes.
