Mangaluru, April 16, 2016 : As many as 30 people sustained injuries when the spectators’ gallery collapsed even as the inaugural day matches of the three-day beach Pro-Kabaddi tournament was underway at Panambur on April 15, Friday.
The event organised by the Karnataka Amateur Kabaddi Association was earlier inaugurated by State Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Abhaychandra Jain. This is the first time that such an event is organised in the city.
Over 3000 people were present at the venue to watch the flood-lit match. The ninth match of the day was underway when the mishap occurred.
The injured were admitted to different hospitals and the matches were suspended. Organisers said the tournament will continue on April 16.
Moidin Bava, MLA of Mangaluru North constituency visited the hospitals where the injured are undergoing treatment.
