Dharwad, January 7, 2016: Defense Minister, Manohar Parrikar released a special postal cover on Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade at a function in Dharward. Pralhad Joshi MP was also present on the occasion.
Speaking at a function here on Wednesday, Mr. Parrikar said that saving the lives of jawans was a priority. Therefore, the armed forces were directed not to engage in a fight keeping the lives of the jawans at stake. It was the reason why the operation continued for nearly 38 hours, he added.
Mr. Parrikar said that after Kashmir, terrorists have targeted the airbase.
However, the country was safe in the hands of the Union government.
Terrorist activities would be dealt with iron hands and a befitting reply would be given for the attacks on the country.
“Now, the situation is under control in Pathankot. That is why I came here to participate in this function,” Mr. Parrikar said.
On the Mahadayi river water sharing issue between Goa and Karnataka, Mr. Parrikar said that he would extend all help to sort it out through talks.
