Mangaluru, July 17, 2017: Music for Change, a Mangalore based Non-Profit Organization hosted a truly magical show ’Beat2Beat’.  The event included a dance competition for the special children and a singing competition for government school children. The uniqueness about the concept was that the students were paired with professional singers and dancers from Mangaluru, mentored by them and performed with them while competing against each other.

The Chief Guests of the event were South Constituency MLA  JR Lobo, CREDAI President and Allegro Ventures India Chairman  D B Mehta and Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman  Jeevan Saldanha.

Addressing the gathering MLA J R Lobo said, “The government has formed a directorate for the specially abled children to provide grants to them. Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have lot of such schools that have helped write success stories of many.

"It is no ordinary deed to nurture these children. Music for Change has taken a good initiative to encourage these children," he added.

CREDAI President D B Mehta said, "Music for Change has taken a great initiative to teach music and dance for the specially-abled and economically weaker children. Music and dance is a universal language which breaks all barriers and touches the soul. We have to convert our vision into a mission and gain profit, not personal profit, but profit for the society," he added.

The Panel of Judges included Konkani Singer/Composer & Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario, Ondu Motteya Kathe Director/Actor Raj.B Shetty, well renowned Choreographer Yathish Amin and internationally acclaimed dancer/actor Avinash Poojary.

The contenders for the singing category were Rynel and Ramesh from Team Strumpets, Amabelle and Sandesh from team Chordially Your’s, Joylene and Vijeth from team Treblemakers, Beverly and Sudeep from team Fiddlers, Shelton and Aadi from team Major and Minor.

Amabelle Moras and Sandesh from the team  Chordially Your’s emerged winners of the singing category.

Five teams from dance category were Prathiksha and Danveeth from the team Flute, Pavan and Yash from the team Aloha, Yoshitha and Anisha from the team Unique, Vikas and Alita from the team Frictions, Prameela and Akshatha from the team Dancing Dolls.

Pavan and Yash from the team Aloha emerged winners of dance category.

On the occasion, Jhankar dance troupe, Craziatics dance group, students of St Agnes Special school, Chethana child development centre, Mannagudda government school and Swaroopa Adhyayana Kendra rendered beautiful performances that delighted the audience.

There was a special dance performance by Dance Stars Adyar and a musical rendition by Rhapsody Out Loud, semi-finalists of ’India’s Got Talent’.

Co-founder of Music for Change Arjun D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Disha Prabhu and Chethan Devraj compered the programme.

Music for Change is an organization that teaches music and dance to underprivileged children including special children from St Agnes Special School & Chethana Child Development Centre and economically backward children from Mannagudda Government School & Swaroopa Adhyayana Kendra. The NGO hires teachers to teach as a part of the school’s academic curriculum as well as donates free instruments to facilitate learning and development of all their students.
