Speaker  Thimmappa said that   Chief Minister says the government is working in a transparent way. If people have to feel it then officials and the Ministers should be responsive to people’s concerns. He added  he was not saying Ministers are not responding. They are responding to concerns. But they need to go deep into issues.  Speaker Thimmappa expressed the need to maintain cleanliness in hospitals.   People are used to spitting at corners of the government hospital. You should make them more responsive. Keep a bin at a corner and make them spit there.

Turning to Superintendents at the hospitals,  Thimmappa said the first task a superintendent should do when he or she came to the hospital in the morning was to have a walk around the hospital premises and look at the state of drinking water, toilets and other facilities.

Not just the quality of services that matters, but also the way the premises are maintained. Being an old institution, your premises should be maintained in a better way, said the speaker.  Thimmappa did not even spare Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader.    You are young and the Chief Minister has given you a big department. You should work towards changing mindset in maintaining cleanliness in the hospital.  He added that there were still a lot of complaints over working of the Health Department. The department was still not providing services in the way the present users  need.

Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa expressed displeasure over the state of the national highways passing through Mangaluru.  The roads. The craters are knee deep. I have told this to PWD Minister and MP Oscar Fernandes. I do not know when these roads will be repaired.  He said that the coastal region receives copious rainfall and the State government releases funds for maintenance of roads. Officials should use these funds to maintain road network in a proper manner.
