Southern Railway- Palakkad division introduces POS machines at 40 locations

Mangaluru, Mar 18, 2017: Point of Sale(swiping) machines have been introduced extensively at reservation ticket counters, Integrated Unreserved Ticketing Counters(IUTS-where reservation of train ticket is possible) and at the Parcel Offices of major stations. Railway passengers seeking reservation tickets can now swipe their debit card or credit card to make necessary payments.

In Palakkad Division, swiping machines have been installed at reservation counters of 15 stations and at the Satellite/non-rail head reservation counters of 3 centres. They are -

Railway station counters:

Mangaluru Central, Kasaragod, Payyannur, Kannur, Thalassery, Mahe, Vadakara, Kozhikode, Feroke, Tirur, Shoranur Jn, Angadipuram, Ottapalam, Palakkad Jn and Palakkad Town.

Non-rail head reservation counters at Malappuram and Waynad

Satellite Reservation counter at Kozhikode Medical College.

Swiping machines have also been installed at the IUTS reservation counters at the following14 stations -

Nileswaram, Charavathur, Trikkaripur, Payangadi, Kannapuram, Valapatnam, Quilandi, Vallikunnu, Parappanangadi, Tanur, Kuttipuram, Pattambi, Nilambur Road and Vaniambalam

Apart from these, the parcel office of the following 8 major Railway stations have also been provided with swiping machines-

Mangaluru Jn., Mangaluru Central, Kannur, Thalassery, Kozhikode, Tirur,

Shoranur Jn and Palakkad Jn.

In a review conducted from 22/02/2017 to 16/03/2017 on the extend of utilizing the swiping machines, it is revealed that this facility has already become popular at reservation counters of Kannur, Kozhikode and Mangaluru Central. The use of machines installed at Palakkad Town, Palakkad Jn, Shoranur Jn, Tirur and Satellite counter/ Kozhikode,  is gradually picking up. Parcel offices at Palakkad Jn, Kozhikode, Shoranur Jn and Mangaluru Central have also favoured this facility for their routine transactions.

It is good to go cashless and ticket counters it is better we have swiping machines .It will be convenient to people as well
