Soon police complaints through Whatsapp in city, says new IT savvy SP

Mangaluru, May 24, 2016: Bhushan Gulabrao Borase IPS, took charge as the SP,  Superintendent of Police of DK, Dakshina Kannada on May 23, Monday, the news SP known for being IT savvy said that he will soon provide a mobile number to which people can provide information and file complaints through Whatsapp. SP Borase had introduced a similar facility during his stint In  Mandya where he was SP.

SP Borase said that the mobile number of the Police Control Room would be enabled to receive photographs, messages and also complaints. The system he had put in place in Mandya for tracing owners of unclaimed vehicles in the police station would be replicated in DK too soon.

SP B G Borase, who is from the 2009 IPS batch, said he would continue all the good practices that his IPS batchmate Dr Sharanappa S.D had put in place. “It’s fortunate for me to take charge from  SP  Sharanappa, a topper of our batch, who has given matters a proper perspective.” SP Borase said that he would make use of social networking tools namely Whatsapp, Twitter and Facebook to be in touch with people.

SP B G Borase, is an M.Tech degree holder from National Institute Technology Jamshedpur, he introduced several citizen centric measures in Mandya. For successful use of the software — Effective vehicles database management to trace the owners of unclaimed vehicles — a first-of-its-kind in the State, SP  Borase bagged the Union government’s prestigious gold medal in the category of ‘Best district-level initiative.” Owners of at least 780 vehicles were traced using the software.

SP  Borase said Director-General and Inspector-General of Police Om Prakash wanted the software through out the State. The State Crime Records Bureau was now working on linking the software with the Police IT system.

SP  Borase, a native of Dhule district of Maharastra, has done his chemical engineering from Pune University. He first served as Assistant Superintendent of Police in Kalaburagi and then worked for three years as the Superintendent of Police in Mandya.  He was Superintendent of Police (Crime) in the Criminal Investigation Department before taking over here.

Noting that it is a privilege to serve in Dakshina Kannada district, SP Bhushan G Borase said this is his first visit to the district and will hopes to live up to expectations. He said he will also take comfort from fact that he has Sharanappa to call in case of any doubts or issues pertaining to the district till such time he gets a grip of things. Vincent Shanthakumar, additional superintendent of police was present on this occasion.
