Mangaluru, Nov 29, 2014 : There was some sort of shock among residents of Kerekadu near Mulki on November 28, Friday night when locals noticed skeletal remains of a young couple at Naladepady. The suspicion is that the two had committed suicide as nylon rope was found suspended from the tree beneath which the bodies were found.
The remains were first noticed by some local youth who were busy making arrangements for the Shashti festival procession of Tokur Sri Subrahmanya Temple and were searching for some tree branches which can be used to fit lights along the procession route. The youth who were scared had immediately informed the police.
Though the identities of the deceased is not yet known, an ID card found in the trousers of one of the bodies had revealed that the man was an employee in the Panchakarma Department of Alva’s Ayurvedic Medical College at Moodbidri. Clothes, footwear, a ladies watch, three cell phones, a bike key and a SIM card were found near the bodies.A Mangalasutra was also found in the clothes of the girl.
The heads of the two were however not to be seen and the suspicion is that some wild animal might have eaten them.
Mulki police are investigating.
