Mangaluru, Aug 31, 2019: The long-pending demand of the department of primary and secondary education to merge the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) and Department of Pre-University Education under a single board will be fulfilled by December 2019.
The single board will conduct both the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) II PUC examinations from 2020.
According to information the department of primary and secondary education, Minister S Suresh Kumar is keen on considering the proposal, which he discussed at the review meeting he chaired.
Officials present at the meeting said off the record that the 2020 final board examinations will be conducted under a single board.
Minister Suresh Kumar said, “I heard it is a long-pending proposal and it is now before me. We even discussed it at the review meeting and I feel conducting examinations under a single board would be beneficial and we will soon take a final decision.”
The minister added that he is studying the system in other states and also at the central level. “A majority of the states have a common examination board for secondary and pre-university and we are also thinking along these lines,” he added. According to the proposal, both SSLC and 2nd PUC examinations would be conducted by KSEEB.
