Moodbidri, 8, 2013: With investigations underway into the case of theft of ancient idols worth several crores from the Siddantha Bhavan in Guru Basadi Complex at Moodbidri, police have released the sketch of a suspect in the case.
According to Manish Kharbikar, Mangalore Police Commissioner, the suspect was found roaming in the area following the theft and the sketch has been prepared on the basis of information and details provided by the locals.
He said the sketch has been sent to police departments all over the state as well the neighbouring states. He said armed guards have been posted at the Basadi and that the police department was contemplating to shift the remaining idols in the Basadi to a bank locker.
On the CCTV footage, he said the thief had been cautious and had covered his face with a monkey cap and was even wearing hand gloves making it difficult to identify him.
Meanwhile, the Basadi authorities have completed the task of ceiling the windows of the Basadi.
