Shyamaprasad Shastri death case : Relative seeks re-probe

Mangalore Today News Network

Puttur, Mar 09, 2016: There has been an interesting development with regard to the case of alleged suicide by Shyamaprasad Shastri of Badekkila in Kedila village with  Govind Shastri, a close relative of the deceased filing a private complaint in the court seeking a re-investigation into the case.

The complainant has alleged that the case was shrouded in mystery and has alleged that Shyamaprasad had not committed suicide.

Shyamprasad 09...It may be mentioned here that Shyamprasad had died on October 31,2014 at his home   by reportedly firing at himself owing to pressure over repeated threat calls  in the backdrop of  Shyamaprasad’s brother Diwaker Shastri’s wife Premalatha lodging a rape case against Raghaveshwara Swamiji of the Mutt.

The complaint stated that there was enough evidence to prove that it was a pre-planned murder and accused the CID of trying to   shield those responsible for the crime.

Govinda Shastri, in his complaint, had questioned how Shyamaprasad fired at his chest using a  four feet long gun and how his son had  headed straight into the kitchen and had  picked the suicide note kept in a box of sweets in the kitchen and how the  gun was found in the store room if Shastri had reportedly committed suicide in the Pooja room.

The petitioner has also pointed out that the gun belonged to Diwaker Shastri and was registered in another taluk and questioned why Shyamprasad did not use his own gun despite him  possessing a licensed one.

Even the blood at the spot where Shyamaprasad Shastri died  was cleaned before the police arrived, giving room for suspicion that evidence was destroyed, Govinda Shastri has alleged.
