Udupi, Nov 05 2019: Shobha Karandlaje, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP, said on Monday that unemployed youth should take advantage of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) which offered job-oriented skill development training.
Addressing presspersons here, Ms. Karandlaje said that the course fee was completely sponsored by the Union government. There were a variety of courses to choose from. On successful completion, placement opportunities would be offered by the PMKVY Centre.
The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra or Centre in Udupi had trained 644 youth last year. Of these, only 12 candidates had failed in the test conducted by the agency appointed by the government to evaluate their training. This year, the target was 3,000. Youth from both Udupi and Chikkamagaluru districts could apply for the courses.
Courses ranging from three to five months were offered in subjects like field technician – other home appliances, computer hardware, networking and storage, CCTV installation technician, mobile phone repair technician, DTH set top box installation and service technician, junior software developer, domestic data entry operator, assistant electrician, domestic IT help desk attendant, retail trainee associate, draughtsman – mechanical, manual/shielded metal arc welding welder, sewing machine operator and hair stylists.
