Shirva, Sep 25, 2018: Shaman Shetty hailing from Sooda near Shirva who was serving as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army is now promoted as a captain.
Son of late Sudhaker Shetty and Shobha Shetty couple, Shaman who had secured 33rd rank in the UPSC exams had joined the army as Lieutenant upon completion of his training at the Officers’ Training Academy at Chennai in 2017. He was posted as Lieutenant of 9th Rajaputana Rifles Infantry Batallion. Now as captain he will be serving the Assam Regiment.
As Shaman’s father was a businessman in Mumbai, after his education upto PUC in Mumbai, he pursued engineering course at the Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology at Davangere and had passed with distinction.
As a member of the Batallion Intelligence wing he had helped in the capture of several ultras. In recognition of his exceptional service in the Operation Rhino, the Commendation Card For Gallantry Award in Eastern Command was conferred on him on September 22 in the presence of Army Chief General Bipin Rawat.
