Udupi, Apr 10, 2016: According to reports, The Panchaloha idols worth lakhs of rupees which were stolen from Shirlalu Shri Adinatheshwara Basadi were found near Andaru Mangappady on Friday, April 8.

Stolen Shirlalu Basadi idols found two months after theft-1

On February 21, miscreants had broke open the doors of the temple and escaped with valuable idols of Goddess Padmavati, Lord Bahubali, the Basadi deity Lord Adinathaswamy and Bharat, gold masks, gold ornaments like bangles and chains, a gold hood, a silver aureole and puja items.

A sack was found near Mangappay from last three days in a suspicious manner but nobody bothered to check it. On Friday one Shridhar Acharya noticed the sack and went to check it. Meanwhile, a few unidentified youth who were suspiciously moving around fled from the place.

When checked, they found that the idols belonged to Shirlalu basadi. The idols have been damaged. Padmavathi idol and other valuables are yet to be traced.

Many dogs were suspiciously found dead near Basadi five days before the theft took place. It is suspected that the thieves might have killed them to carry out the robbery in the Basadi.
