Udupi, Aug 16,2016: Superintendent of Police, Udupi,  K T Balakrishna stated a departmental inquiry would be initiated against the former investigation officer and Manipal CPI Girish who was investigating billionaire businesssman Bhaskar Shetty’s murder case.

K TBalakrishnaThe SP told media that this action follows specific charges against the former investigation officer. Further, he declined to divulge the details. An internal discussion on the inquiry is being taken up. The investigation has been speeded up and the team has collected a lot of clues, which cannot be revealed at this juncture. The DNA and forensic science laboratory teams have arrived and have inspected the evidences, he added.

The SP said he is supervising the case personally. The police are close to completing the investigation. The paper work is complete.The packaging and dispatching of the evidence samples to the FSL is completed. The bank accounts of the accused and the transactions data will be verified, he added.

The suspects in the case were taken to the hotel on August 10 at Nitte for lunch as it was inevitable for security and there is no malafide intentions in this, he clarified.

Police finds more evidence :  Further reports say, police have  recovered some clothes which were allegedly used in the murder of Bhaskar Shetty, from a laundry shop, at Nitte. The police officials refused to confirm whether the evidence on the clothes recovered was intact or not. "We have recovered clothes and the forensic team and the scientific team is compiling both circumstantial and material evidence, " said an official. 


The police will establish whether the bones which were recovered from burnt remains dumped, belong to Bhaskar Shetty or not. To confirm this, they need DNA samples from the kin and will have to approach court.  The accomplice in the murder case astrologer Niranjan Bhat is being taken to various places based on his statements to collect further material evidence.
Bhaskar Shetty’s wife Rajeshwari and son Navaneeth are the main accused in this murder. Niranjan Bhat, his father Srinivas Bhat and driver Raghavendra are also co-accused in this case, with the last two being arrested for destruction of evidence.

Bhaskar Shetty , 52, was reported missing on July 28 amid strong rumours that he had irreconcilable differences with his wife. Later, it was found that he was murdered and the body remains, mostly urns of ashes, were buried.
