Shame! Grama panchayat vice president tries to rape college girl on the pretext of giving lift

Kundapur: July23, 2015: A case has been registered against a Grama panchayat vice president for allegedly trying to rape a college girl.

According to the sources, Balachandra (36), the vice president of Edamoge gram panchyat was on his way in his Omni car.  He saw a college girl walking alone towards the bus stand, Balachandra approached towards her and offered a lift. The girl who was on her way to her home after visiting the college accepted to get in inside his car.

It was raining heavily in that region, Balachandra who made up his mind to take undue advantage of the girl, took her to an isolated area in his car instead of taking her to her house. Balachandra touched her body and then kissed her. He then tried to sexually assault her and gave his mobile number. The girl who was frightened, shouted for help. Balachandra dropped her near her house and escaped.

The girl informed about the incident to her parents, who then registered a complaint at a local police station. The accused went absconding after he learnt that case was registered against him.

A case has been filed at Shankarnaraya police staion. The police are now searching for the accused.
