Serial accident near Thumbay: Youth killed, another critical

Bantwal, Jan 1, 2016: A serial accident involving two buses, a truck and a bike claimed the life of a youth  while another person sustained serious injuries at Ramalkatte near Thumbay on December 31, Thursday.

The deceased youth is Monsy (21) hailing from Kottayam in Kerala. He was riding pillion in the bike of Suresh of Ramalkatte. Suresh   was seriously injured in the mishap. Both of them were makers of cement well rings. 

The mishap occurred when an Eicher truck collided head-on with their bike throwing both of them off guard. In the meantime, the driver of a private bus which was just behind the truck  applied sudden brake on witnessing the mishap  the result of which was that another KSRTC bus which was behind rammed against the private bus. Though both the buses suffered some damage no passenger was injured.

Traffic on the National Highway came to an abrupt halt for  some time following the accident. Bantwal Rural SI Rakshith and other personnel, who rushed to the spot, regulated the traffic.

Meanwhile, locals have alleged that the encroachment of the NH  at Ramalkatte   by raising a compound wall by some persons was the reason for Thursday’s accident as well as many other accidents reported from the area.
