Security strengthened in Alva’s following tweet on Bengaluru blast

Moodbidri, Dec 30, 2014 :  The security arrangements at the Alva’s Campus at Vidyagiri in Moodbidri has been tightened   following a tweet on December 29,  Monday by a person named  Abdul Khan  claiming responsibility for the Bengaluru blast and also stating that he can be contacted at Alva’s College, Moodbidri.

 Senior police officials including Panambur ASP Ravikumar visited the campus to ensure it had adequate security. Police personnel were also deployed and  intensive checking too was taken up

Meanwhile, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr. M Mohan Alva has been flooded with calls from anxious parents of Alva’s students  wanting to know about the safety of their children. The Foundation has sent messages to cell phones of all parents reassuring them that there was nothing to worry.

Meanwhile, the management has clarified that there was no student by name Abdul Khan who had reportedly made the tweets. It is learnt, the college is checking records to verify if any student by that name studied in the institutions in the past.

Later Dr Mohan Alva spoke to reporters  and said the security agencies should be able to track down the person who has made these tweets. He also assured students and their parents that there was nothing to worry and security has been strengthened.

The Bengaluru police has meanwhile suspended the Twitter account of Abdul Khan.
