Mangalore, May 4, 2014: Journalists in Mangalore and Moodbidri staged  protests on May 3, Saturday  opposing the alleged threat by State Minister Abhayachandra Jain to  Yashodhara Bangera, the Moodbidri reporter of a Kannada daily over his reports on the proposed Niddodi thermal power plant.

In the city, scribes under the aegis of the DK District Working Journalists Union took out a protest march. They even forwarded a memorandum to the Chief Minister and State Governor through the Deputy Commissioner seeking action against the Minister.

PB Harish Rai, President of the Union, Ravindra Shetty, Jithendra Kundeshwara and others were present.

In Moodbidri too journalists protested by wearing black badges and taking out a protest march from Press Club to the Tahsildar’s Office. They later submitted a memorandum to the CM demanding suitable action against Jain. Ashraf Walpady, President of Moodbidri Journalists Union led the protest.
