Mangalore, June 28, 2013: The police have solved the mystery behind the mysterious disappearance of a scrap dealer from Kudroli and the subsequent tracing of his body at Tanneerbavi beach. The wife of the deceased, and two others including a person said to be the paramour of the scrap dealer’s wife have been arrested on June 27, Thursday.
Those arrested are the deceased scrap dealer Abdul Rashid’s wife Naseema (36), Mohammad Imran, said to be her paramour and Saleem(38) who happens to be Naseema’s younger sister’s husband. Police are on the lookout for two other accused namely Abdulla Alias Kalia and Mukri Siddique.
As police found marks of injuries on the body of Rasheed, they had suspected the cause of the death and had begun investigations. Subsequently Bharathi, SI of Panambur police station had taken Naseema and three others into custody for enquiry when it came to light that she had hired professional killers to eliminate her husband by paying Rs one lakh.
It is learnt, Rashid was killed by hitting his head with an iron rod at around 1.30 am on June 21 and then his body was dumped in the Gurupur river. Investigations revealed that Naseema who had an extra-marital affair with Imran had told her brother-in-law about her problem and also the differences with her husband and the latter thus had decided to help her.
They contacted Abdulla alias Kalia from Manjeshwar, a notorious criminal and in order to make the task easy had mixed sleeping tablets in Rasheed’s dinner on the night of June20.
Investigations revealed that Rashid and Naseema had fought frequently and Rashid had even decided to take her along with him for Umrah pilgrimage and had even made arrangements for passport, air tickets for the pilgrimage scheduled for June 25.
Though Naseema had taken caution to see that no clue was left in the house, the police and finger print experts found blood stains in the cotton filling of the bed, ascertaining doubts that Rashid was killed at home.
The investigations were held under the guidance of Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar, DCPs Mutturaya and D Dharmaiah.
