Scholarships, medical, social aid distribution at Gokarnanatha Shrine on Sept 9

Mangaluru, Sep 06 2018: The  educational scholarships, medical aid and social aid  distribution programme on behalf of Sri Gokarnanatha Temple, Kudroli  will be held at the Gokarnanatha Kalyana Mantap of the Kshetra on September 9 at 10  am under the leadership of  former union minister B Janardhana Poojary.

 

The programme will be inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, while  Temple Committee President HS Sairam will preside over the function.

This was informed to reporters here by  Temple Committee office bearer Padmaraj Karkera at  the  Temple Hall.

The decision to distribute scholarships, medical and social aid on behalf of the Kshetra was taken as per the wishes of  Janardhana Poojary and was launched during last year’s Dasara by the then Deputy  Commissioner Jagadish. Of  the Rs 25 lakhs collected for the purpose, Rs 15 lakhs will be given as scholarships and  Rs 5 lakhs each as medical aid and social aid to the needy.

This year a total of 554 students will get scholarships.  Students pursuing professional courses will get scholarships amounting to Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000, while those  in degree courses  will get Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000. Eligible PU students will get Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000.
