Mangaluru, Jan 05, 2015: Eminent Sarod Maestro and Padmashree, Padma Bhushan Awardee Ustad Amjad Ali Khan will be conferred the Alva’s Virasat National Award -2015 during the Alva’s Virasat-2015 to be held at Vidyagiri from January 8 to 11.
Informing this to reporters here on January 5, Monday, Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation said the Virasat will be inaugurated on January 8 evening by Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala.
The function will be presided over by Dr. N. Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University, he said and informed that other dignitaries who will grace the occasion include State Ministers B Ramanatha Rai, Abhayachandra Jain, UT Khader, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Canara Bank CEO VN Krishna Kumar, Karnataka Bank CEO P Jayaram Bhat and SCDCC Bank Chairman MN Rajendra Kumar.
The special attractions of Alva’s Virasat 2015 include presentations from Desert Storm, the folk and cultural team from Rajasthan, ‘Naadaloka by Mysore Manjunath and team, special dance performance ‘Shri Raman Nataka Nikethan’ by artistes from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarathi dance etc, Dr Alva informed.
There will also be programmes by Shivamani and Team and a musical night named ‘Ankhiyon Ke Zaaraonkho Se” by visually impaired singers. Another attraction is “Miracles on Wheels” by differently abled people.
Dr Padmanabha, Venugopal Shetty and Jeevan Ram Sullia were also present at the press meet.
