Udupi, Nov 29, 2016: Speaking after inaugurating the convention of district Brahmin Association, it is reported that Pejawar Mutt seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami said that it is essential to safeguard the interest of Hindu religion, which in turn would help the sustenance of Brahmanism. The seer said the welfare of Hinduism is essential for the betterment of Brahmin community. He said Dharma leads to the progress of Hindu religion.
The seer also said Brahmins should practice morality and should always uphold sainthood. Brahmins should not be victim for illegal activities and should follow the ideologies of Brahmanism. There are sub-castes within Brahmins, the seer said and called upon Brahmins to remain united leaving behind differences within the caste layer. There might be philosophical differences, but unity is more essential to counter external invasion.
He said there is opposition against the practice of Brahmanism. The intellectuals always target the Brahmins. In the midst of all the troubles, a Brahmin should focus on the purpose of his birth and lead all community men towards the right path, the seer said.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCCI) working president Dinesh Gundu Rao assured to look into the problems encountered by the Brahmins. He said Brahmins have contributed a lot to the development of the country since pre-independent India to the post-independent India.
He urged the community people to engage in various activities which would strengthen them to counter the contemporary challenges. Caste-based census taken up in state would help to know the financial status of all communities. The government would take appropriate measures after the report on caste census is submitted, he said.
