Mangalore, August 5: Superintendent of police Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao has flagged-off the ‘Rickshaw Challenge Mumbai Express 2010’, a 2000-km travel across India, on Thursday, August 5.


The event has been organised to raise funds for the schools with an aim ‘freedem through education’. Ireland, Holland, Singapore, Canada, South Africa, UK and USA are the nations participating in the Challenge Mumbai Express 2010.

The participants, who have started the journey from Channai, reached Mangalore on Thursday. They have traveled through Vellore and Bangalore to reach Mangalore said a participant from Holland. The challenge, which was flagged by the SP, will move to Murdeshwar and then Ratnagiri, Mahabaleshwar, Pune, Alibaugh and Mumbai. The challenge has been organized by Mangalore Round Table 115 and MLC 82.

   
Speaking on the occasion, Aravind Bremanandam, Event managing director said that they have raised fifty thousand dollars for Round table India projects. The fund will be used to build school building for primary schools functioning across the country. Besides, the amount will be utilized to get infrastructure, health care, educational accessories etc.


Mangalore round table (MRT) chairman Vinod A R Pinto and Mangalore Ladies Club (MLC) 82 chairperson Oreethi Pinto including all the tablers of MRT 115 and circlers of MLC 82 were the others present on the occasion.
