Mangalore, Sep 30, 2014: Successful women entrepreneurs should encourage other women to come to the mainstream, said Mangalore South MLA J R Lobo. He was speaking after inaugurating an exhibition- cum- sale of products prepared by the beneficiaries of Udyogini and Sthree Shakti self help group members, organised jointly by Karnataka State Women Development Corporation and department of Women and Child Welfare in the premises of Kanthi Church near Mangaladevi in Mangalore on Monday, reports DHNS from Mangalore.
“A country can progress only with the progress of women. The society can not progress, when women do not get the respect she deserves,” Lobo said.
Women and Child Welfare department Deputy Director Gatrude Veigas said that loans and subsidies have been provided to women beneficiaries under Udyogini scheme.
District Sthree Shakti nodal officer Sunder Poojary and Karnataka State Women’s Development Corporation district representative Chandrika Rao were present.
Women entrepreneurs from Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga and Gadag districts displayed their products at the exhibition. Processed food, dress materials, imitation jewellery and others were on display. The exhibition will continue till October 4 it was stated.
