Subrahmanya, jan 16, 2014: The Supreme Court has dismissed the writ petition filed by Sri Channamalla Veerabhadra Swamiji of Nidumamidi Samsthan and several others seeking a ban on the controversial Made Madesnana ritual at the Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple.
This was informed by Bhasker Bendodi, State President of Adivasi Malekudiyara Sangha, respondents to the petition who had appealed to permit the holding of the ritual without any hindrance.
He has described the Supreme Court ruling as a victory of the devotees and pointed out that the ritual was in practice in the temple since centuries and that it was a voluntary practice and no one is forced to offer the ritual.
Even the writ filed in the High Court by Karunaker Ennemajalu of Sullia taluk seeking to put an end to Pankti Bedha practice at Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple, has been dismissed. The petitioners had alleged that Pankthi Bedha was practiced during the Anna Santharpane held at the outer yards of the temple during the fair.
