Mangaluru, May 25, 2019: 52-year old Russell Rasquinha of Mangaluru has served humanity even in his untimely death by donating his body to medical science. He passed away on Friday evening (May 24), following illness.
Russell Rasquinha was the son of Jossy and Dulcine Rasquinha and he was a resident of Bendore in the city. Both his parents had died at a young age – with a gap of only a few years - when he was still in school. Russell, who was unmarried, is survived by four sisters Colleen, Halowine, Larraine, Merlyn and a younger brother Lionel.
Russell was an alumnus of St. Aloysius School and College. He was working as an interior works contractor. He liked traveling and used to often travel abroad. Known to be cheerful, friendly and helpful, he had sought to serve humanity even in death as he had signed up for cadaver donation with Father Muller Medical College in the city.
Soon after his death, his eyes were harvested for transplant. His body will be formally handed over to the medical college after the religious ceremonies are performed as his siblings are yet to arrive in the city.
Mortal remains will be brought to St. Sebastian’s Church, Bendore on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. and funeral mass will be held at 3:30 p.m., according to sources close to his family.
